Chapter President
shall
be the executive head of the Chapter and shall preside at all meetings
of the Chapter. The President shall have the power to call special
meetings if deemed necessary for the benefit of the Chapter and shall
have the deciding vote in case of tied decisions.
Ongoing responsibilities include:
- Presides over Chapter meetings, board meetings and all conference activities
Leads business planning and review of progress or implementation - Reviews and manages Chapter budget and ensures that only authorized signatory approves/sign outgoing money
- Interfaces with ISSA International by representing the Chapter in the annual conference
- Partners with other chapters and security-related professional organizations Point of contact for media, vendors, presenters, sponsors and other organizations interested to provide support to the Chapter
- Leads resolution of Chapter issues
Vice President
shall attend to the duties of the President in his/her absence or in case the President's office may become vacant for any cause whatever, and shall attend to any other duties as the President may require. The Secretary will assume the role of Newsletter Editor.
Ongoing responsibilities include:
- Leads planning of monthly presentations and meeting logistics for the chapter including review of topics and presenters to assure relevancy to the educational goal of the Chapter
- Ensure monthly presentations calendar is published via Communications teams
- Assists President in collaborating with other chapters and information security organizations in Kansas City
- Participates or take leadership role in other special activities of the Chapter, as needed
- Assists President in the soliciting of Chapter and conference sponsorship
Secretary of the Board
Shall take minutes of all Board meetings, including how called or authorized, notice given thereof, place and time of holding, and the names of those present, and shall keep a copy of such minutes and distribute to the Board. The Recording Secretary shall keep a copy of the current Bylaws Standing Rules and Board of Directories Responsibilities documents, which will be available for the inspection by the members at all reasonable times. The Secretary shall keep an inventory record of all Chapter-owned equipment. The Secretary shall maintain and distribute an electronic distribution list of the Board members, including lists of Board Members work and home information.
Ongoing responsibilities include:
- Printing of all attendee name badges for Chapter meetings
- Printing and distributing attendance certificates as needed by members and visitors for CPE validation
- Management of the reception desk at Chapter meeting site by preparing sign-in sheet, registering attendees, and providing completed sign-in sheet to site security guards and the Communications Director for inclusion in newsletter distribution
- Works closely with President, Vice President, and Treasure.
Treasurer
shall collect all membership dues and other monies or articles of value belonging to the Chapter. The Treasurer is responsible for: Bank account maintenance – Selecting a bank, signing checks, and investing excess funds wisely;
- Financial transaction oversight – Being knowledgeable about who has access to ISSA’s funds, and any outstanding bills or debts owed, as well as developing systems for keeping cash flow manageable;
- Budgets – Developing the annual budget, as well as comparing actual revenues and expenses incurred against the budget; and
- Reports – Keeping the board regularly informed of key financial events, trends, concerns, and assessment of fiscal health in addition to completing required financial reporting forms, i.e. IRS Form 990 in a timely fashion and making these forms available to the board.
Director of Membership
Shall oversee the membership rolls, establish procedures to greet new members, and establish procedures to assist members in enrolling and or renewing.
The Membership Director shall maintain sufficient membership address lists as to ensure that all members in good standing are notified of meetings, and that the members receive all other correspondence necessary to conduct the business of the Chapter.
In addition, the membership director will develop and lead new membership campaigns as deemed necessary by the board. Membership director will provide feedback to the KC ISSA Board and make recommendations for improvements in membership.
Director of Marketing/Social Media
Shall maintain sufficient membership address lists as to ensure that all members in good standing are notified of meetings, and that the members receive all other correspondence necessary to the conduct of the Chapter. At the direction of the President, the Secretary Director of Social Media shall also transmit and respond to all correspondence of the Chapter pertaining to social media, and perform any other duties related to social media as directed by the chapter board of directors.
Additionally, the Director of Social Media promotes ISSA’s brand, products and services via social media networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, YouTube, LinkedIn and Reddit, among others. The social media director needs to implement a plan that outlines a strategy with goals and objectives, determine a course of action, assess the results and evaluate the outcomes. The Social media director will evaluate Facebook comments, measure Twitter activity by followers and analyze analytics to see traffic patterns, activity levels and how well social media messages are received. Social media directors will provide this feedback to the KC ISSA Board members and make recommendations for improvements to the social media strategy.
Director of Programs
Shall be responsible for the setup and coordination of meetings and programs for chapter meetings. Director of Programs shall be responsible for finding sponsors, venues, speakers, and topics for the monthly/annual chapter events.
The Director of Programs is also be tasked with working with Information Security related organizations in the region to coordinate shared meetings, activities, or events (i.e. ISACA, OWASP, etc.), and is responsible for getting all details to the Newsletter Editor / Newsletter Content Developer.
Webmaster/Events
Responsible for all content, approved by the Board, to be managed on the Chapter Website.
Responsible for creating invites, posting the links and details from events with the on-line event registration solution and related notifications.
Director of Certification/Education
Shall manage and oversee all educational activities of the Chapter and will be responsible for the coordination of Chapter-sponsored educational offerings including but not limited to: certification study groups, member workshops and will serve as a coordinator for the Chapter's support of student chapters.
The Director of Education will also organize a minimum of one information technology & security training course annually, keep the ISSA Board informed on training objectives, strategy, and progress”. All educational offerings will be approved by the Board of Directors. The Director of Education will also submit CPE credits to certification boards as appropriate.
Ongoing responsibilities include:
- Facilitates educational activity planning, logistics and delivery
- Proposes budget pertaining to educational activities for monthly meeting and conference
- Organizes resources, speakers/instructors and volunteers for education events
- Ensures activity information is published via the Communications team
- Responsible for providing ISSA members and non-members CPE receipts
Program Committee Managers/volunteer
The Board is seeking two volunteers for Program Committee Managers, to report to the Board of Directors. Program Committee Managers shall assist in finding venues, speakers, and topics for the monthly/annual chapter events.
- Program Committee Managers are not voting members of the Board, but do earn CPE credits for their service.
